The next day at his office, Xia Yao earnestly knocked on the table next to his.
“Xiao Hui, are you free?”
“Yes, what’s up?”
” Help me investigate someone,” said Xia Yao.
“Who?”
“Yuan Zong, he lives in…”
“You mean Yuan Ru’s older brother?.” Xiao Hui interrupted Xia Yao.
Xia Yao immediately became upset, “How do you know him?”
“I overheard a conversation about them. What, Yuan Ru never told you?”
In reality, the amount of times Yuan Ru talked to Xia Yao was less than that of his colleagues. Every time Yuan Ru appeared at the police department, Xia Yao would always make an excuse leave and do errands elsewhere. In this way, she was free to idly chat with his friends instead.
“Yuan Zong used to be a former special force soldier. After being discharged, he came home to build his own bodyguard company. You know, it has become quite famous around the area. It’s been said that their graduates are very professional. And even more impressive, most of his bodyguards are employed by idols or politicians.”
No wonder the skills of those two men were so dangerous, they were bodyguards…
Recalling the dozen or so bodyguards that he hired, Xia Yao felt somewhat shameful. As for Yuan Zong, the mere thought of him made Xia Yao turned deathly pale. The event yesterday has become clearer now.
“You go your way, I’ll go my way, I’ll act like this person never walked into my life.”
During lunch hours, Yuan Ru started to prattle about Xia Yao again. It was as if she wanted to brainwash Yuan Zong into completely accepting this man as his future “brother in law”. Then she would explain even further in an attempt to make him help her.
“Big brother, do you know what Xia Yao hates to be called the most?”
Yuan Zong did not have any reaction to her words as he continued to eat his noodles.
“His majesty!” Yuan Ru bursts out laughing, “That is what his colleagues in his unit told me. Just call Xia Yao by that title and his face will immediately stretch out…like this.”
As she said so, Yuan Ru pulled her own chin down, imitating Xia Yao’s gestures while also laughing at her own joke.
Yuan Zong glared at Yuan Ru, making his little sister immediately shut her mouth and return to eating in a docile manner.
After a bit, Yuan Ru risked opening her mouth again, “Big brother, can you just help me with this one teeny weeny favor?”
“Speak!”
Yuan Ru turned around and pulled out a beautifully wrapped box from inside her leather handbag. Then she carefully placed it in front of Yuan Zong as if it was something precious.
“Xia Yao likes to eat sweets. Look, these are the cookies I made with my own hands, can you please give it to him for me? Every time I try to give him a present, he never accepts it. If you personally try, maybe he’ll take it this time. Perhaps the moment he realize how great my cooking skill is, he’ll like me!” (In your dreams, Yuan Ru…muahahahaha ??????)
Yuan Ru was only babbling on and on because she was afraid Yuan Zong would not take any notice of her. However, contrary to his stern mannerism, he received the box.
Yuan Ru’s eyes slightly widened in surprise. Since this was the first time that something like this happened, she couldn’t help but feel a bit unsettled.
“I said, don’t try to be sneaky and eat any of the cookies.”
Observing her brother, Yuan Ru then reflected on the unlikelihood of this happening, “Oh wait! I forgot, you don’t eat sweets. That’s it, I’m laying all my hopes on you!”
Yuan Zong held onto his cold exterior as he climbed into his car. Then looking at the box of cookies, he wasted no time in finishing every single one of it. Feeling satisfied, he threw the box away, and drove away…
As the sun set over the horizon, Xia Yao drove out of the police headquarters. He wanted to fully experience the freedom of having no one chasing him. This feeling was so freaking great that a smile rose on his face.
Then from afar, the silhouette of a familiar vehicle parked by the sidewalk, appeared in his line of sight.
Yuan Zong wore a pair of dark sunglasses and his formed could be clearly made out from behind two layers of windshield. But even then, Xia Yao could still feel that powerful and intimidating glare boring at him.
Xia Yao pretended not to notice this dark aura, but the moment his car started to move, the other followed.
Three types of fire ignited within Xia Yao: light – evil – demon combined to form a triple flame coming out of his head.
Where did this kind of annoying person come from? You’ve got to be fucking kidding me! Why is he back?
[1] I’m so sorry T_T…I tried translating this part as best I could buy unless you’re Chinese or Vietnamese, what miss Chai was referring to here is really hard to understand, since she is using literary words referring to Chinese martial arts movies. In conclusion, what she is trying to describe here is the fact the Xia Yao was reallllyyyyy angry! :))))
When Xia Yao pulled over at an intersection, Yuan Zong also did the same. Xia Yao got out and walked over to Yuan Zong’s window, knocking on it.
Yuan Zong pressed it down, not waiting for Xia Yao to open his mouth before placing the box of cookies in front of his face.
“My little sister wants to give you this present.”
Xia Yao pressed his hands against the window frame, leaning forward, “I will say this one more time, I will not take whatever she gives me, tell her to stop all this nonsense!”
Yuan Zong merely said, “I’m only the messenger.”
Just hearing those words, rows of veins immediately popped out of Xia Yao’s nape. His sharp eyes stared at Yuan Zong’s cold hard face for a long time before he finally spoke again.
“Fine! If you have courage, then continue to follow me. Let’s see who has more free time. You or me?!”

News update: So I’ll be doing the news updates when it is my turn to translate.
Our topic today is: Gong Jun a.k.a Simon a.k.a Xia Yao
Gossip around the neighborhood says that our super cute Xia Yao is an actor/model/internet idol (on weibo). He has one series under his belt which you can find in the media box above, but is still fairly new and unknown in the entertainment industry. However, I’ve heard that Gong Jun once took weibo by storm because of his pretty face and boyish looks.
What do you think?
